Open field pepper "three-phase" å’‹ fertilization
In the early stages of fruit set, plants enter a period of rapid growth, so consistent watering and fertilization are essential. It is recommended to water every two weeks and apply fertilizer through irrigation. Each time, you can use 10 kg of ammonium sulfate or 800 kg of diluted human manure. Be sure to harvest the lower fruits promptly, especially peppers, and consider harvesting them earlier if possible. Watering should be done in small amounts, and after heavy rain, excess water in the field should be drained immediately. Once the weather clears up, it's important to spray preventive pesticides to avoid diseases like anthracnose and other fungal infections.
During the fruiting period, watering should still be done regularly but in smaller quantities to prevent soil compaction and maintain good air circulation. Since pepper grows during the hot and rainy season, continuous fertilization is necessary, typically through irrigation. After heavy rains, it's crucial to water again to improve soil aeration and support root respiration. At the same time, gently loosen the soil around the base of the plant, keeping the soil level about 13 cm high to avoid overwatering or poor drainage.
In the later stages of harvesting, the second peak of pepper yield occurs. Watering should be done every 7–8 days, with 2–3 applications of fertilizer through irrigation. When using "watering" as a method, apply 20 kg of diammonium phosphate per acre. During the "White Dew" season, add 500 kg of diluted human manure with each watering. In the "Autumn" period, apply 300 kg of human manure per acre through irrigation. The manure should be well-diluted to avoid burning the plants. In the late harvest phase, remove yellowing leaves from the lower part of the pepper plants and prune long or inner branches to improve air circulation and sunlight penetration.
