On December 7, the 11th member representative conference of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce was held in Beijing. Li Hejun, president of the New Energy Chamber of Commerce of the National Federation of Industry and Commerce and chairman of the board of directors of Hanergy Holding Group, said in an interview during the meeting that in the future, China's photovoltaic industry, especially the polysilicon industry, will have more than 50% of its capacity eliminated. In Li Hejun's view, at present, 85% of China's PV market is occupied by polysilicon, and the situation has begun to fall apart. "After more than 30 years of development, polysilicon technology has matured and the space for technology rise is very limited." Li Hejun believes that the reason that film will eventually replace polysilicon is the difference between the two in the production process. Although polysilicon products have a high conversion rate during power generation, high energy consumption and high pollution cannot be ignored in the production process. It is understood that each unit of polycrystalline silicon product will produce more than ten units of silicon tetrachloride waste liquid. Untreated silicon tetrachloride is a highly corrosive toxic and harmful liquid. At the same time, due to the high cost of recycling silicon tetrachloride, most Chinese solar plants are not fully equipped with related equipment. There is almost no contamination problem in the production process of the film.

Li Hejun believes that the main reason for China's polysilicon heat is that the threshold is too low. Although the global photovoltaic industry has an annual demand growth of more than 30%, the photovoltaic industry's annual capacity growth of about 80% has far exceeded market demand. “Removal is an inevitable market outcome.”

Li Hejun admits that for the "double-reverse" policy of the European and American markets, the New Energy Chamber of Commerce has made a strong response and response policy, but he is more convinced that the market-led survival of the fittest does not support human intervention. "Good nature will stay, especially for polysilicon enterprises with core technology; if they fail, they will be eliminated, and ultimately they will be the result of the market, not the result of man-made." He also pointed out that the "double-reverse" should be seen.
