Flow boiling cooling to fill the gap of domestic quenching technology

Quenching and controlling cooling is the key technology to improve the material properties and realize the “double strength” and economical manufacturing of steel materials in China. Before 1998, China's large-scale plate quenching and post-rolling controlled cooling equipment that had withstood production tests almost all relied on imports. This project is aimed at the design problem of Taigang quenching machine which can not be solved by famous foreign quenching machine developers. It proposes a new principle of post-furnace quenching machine (identified as the first in domestic and international, leading the international level), and designed and manufactured the first in China. The energy-saving quenching machine was successfully put into production in 2001, and it has withstood the production test and obtained two patents.

With the patented technology such as high-density tube flow as the core, the first set of 4200NAC (normalized furnace rapid cooling) was built in China, and the first mechanical system with accelerated cooling control (ACC) + direct quenching (DQ) function and the first set of aerosol cooling were built. With the control of the high-density pipe flow control system, in 2007, 10 sets of quenching and controlled cooling mechanical systems such as the West-East Gas Pipeline 4200ACC were promoted and put into production, producing the wide-area pipeline steel, the Olympic venues, the Bird's Nest Steel and the military steel, which are urgently needed in China. More than 8 million tons of high-quality plate for quenching or controlled cooling. At present, about half of the domestic ACC mechanical equipment adopts this technology, and the technology won the 2008 National Science and Technology Progress Award.

Li Mouqi, the general manager of the project, said that the main innovations of the technology are: (1) proposing the mechanism and technology of quenching and controlling cooling of "flow boiling cooling enhancement", and built the first furnace after the boiling of boiling water with China's intellectual property rights. (2) The theory and technology of flatness control system for quenching and controlling cooling process of large steel plate without upper constraint; (3) System theory and technology for quenching and controlling cold structure performance of large steel plate; (4) Developed a new quenching and quenching and post-rolling controlled cooling model; (5) Developed a comprehensive mathematical model of the quenching and cooling system, built with simulated quenching, tracking water-saving modules and computer intelligent control systems.
