Apple may build 200 million sapphire mobile phone screens

On February 7th, Beijing Time, Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac reported that the next-generation iPhone could feature a scratch-resistant sapphire glass screen. According to the report, GT Advanced Technologies' sapphire factory in Mesa, Arizona, is expected to supply Apple with between 100 and 200 million sapphire glass screens for the upcoming devices. Gurman collaborated with Matt Margolis, an analyst and investor with GAdvanced, who has previously written about sapphire glass technology. Margolis emphasized the strategic importance of sapphire screens for Apple. He explained, “Sapphire screens will allow Apple to fully leverage Authentec’s technology, which it acquired for $358 million. This means Touch ID could be integrated across the entire screen, not just beneath the home button. Additionally, sapphire is second only to diamond in hardness, offering superior protection against scratches and damage.” This move is seen as a key step in Apple's ongoing efforts to enhance both the durability and functionality of its devices. With sapphire glass, the company could also explore new design possibilities, such as seamless integration of biometric sensors and improved display clarity. The collaboration with GT Advanced suggests that Apple is committed to securing a stable and high-quality supply chain for this advanced material. As the demand for more durable and innovative smartphones continues to grow, Apple's investment in sapphire technology may give it a competitive edge in the market.

Wave Spring

Wave spring has its unique advantage of saving space, which can replace coil Springs. Wave spring also decreases spring cavity by reducing spring operating height. It saves cost by reducing both component size and material used in production.

Wave spring works as a force loading device. It takes up gap and compensate for dimensional changes within the assembled device. Almost any range of forces can be achieved by gradually or suddenly changing loading force to preset working length. So a precise spring ratio can be realized when loading force and deflection change in proportion.

SEALMANN introduced advanced equipments from overseas used specifically for wave spring making and pre-tempered cold rolling formed flat wire is used to produce wave springs through continuous winding process, which possesses many advantages over products made from die stamping process.

`SEALMANN` wave spring as a force loading component can effectively compensate for dimensional deviations in assembly and it can meet in different static or dynamic applications. There are mainly three types of wave springs, i.e. single-layer wave spring, multi-layer standard wave spring and multi-layer stacked wave spring, and they are widely used in applications such as hydraulic and pneumatic, machinery, gear drive, automobile, aerospace and petrochemicals etc.
