US machine tool consumption increased by 85.3% in 2010

The $317 million increased by 40.9%, an increase of 104.8% from the $218 million in December 2009. From January to December 2010, the consumption of metal cutting machine tools in the United States was 3.007 billion US dollars, an increase of 99.1%; the consumption of metal forming and manufacturing machine tools was 229 million US dollars, still down 2.9%. AMT Chairman Douglas K. Woods pointed out: "After the International Manufacturing Technology Exhibition (IMTS), machine tool sales continued to grow for four consecutive months and eventually achieved steady growth at the end of the year, which is the first time in the history of US machine tool consumption statistics. In 2010, US machine tool orders grew strongly, up 85% year-on-year, and the monthly increase in December was 40.9%, higher than the previous months.
