Preferential policies introduced to encourage the construction of green mines

Preferential policies introduced to encourage the construction of green mines In an effort to accelerate the development of green mining, the Ministry of Land and Resources, along with other relevant government departments, has announced a series of preferential policies aimed at supporting the growth of environmentally sustainable mining projects. These measures are designed to motivate companies to invest in greener technologies and practices. This announcement was made during an event held on April 20th, organized by the Ministry as part of its World Earth Day celebrations. During the visit to the Sijiaying Iron Mine, which is part of Hebei Iron and Steel Group, Deputy Director Zhai Jianhua of the Department of Planning and head of the expert team from the Green Mine Working Committee of the China Mining Association shared these details. The three main policy areas focus on enhancing financial support, promoting favorable regulations, and introducing resource tax incentives. First, the government plans to increase funding for green mine initiatives and create dedicated channels for applications, encouraging more investment in this sector. Second, new policies will be developed to support the growth of green mining, such as land use preferences, pilot programs for repurposing abandoned mining areas, and adjustments in mineral resource allocation to prioritize green enterprises. Third, the resource tax system will be reformed to reward companies that adopt eco-friendly practices, including tax breaks and incentives tied to environmental restoration efforts. In addition to these policies, the Ministry will also work on refining standards and regulations for green mines across different regions and industries. It aims to ensure strict oversight of resource access and usage while fostering a more sustainable and responsible mining industry. Through these combined efforts, the goal is to build a comprehensive economic framework that supports and encourages the long-term development of green mining in China.
