However, purchasing a complete eye wash system can cost several thousand yuan or even up to ten thousand. Moreover, if the equipment is damaged, repair costs are also quite high.

After considering this idea, he decided to assign the task to the inspection and maintenance workshop.

Upon receiving the task, the inspection and maintenance team quickly formed a research group. The team included a senior welding engineer, Han Wenjie, technician Zhang Shengchang, carpenter Yu Xianzhi, and riveter Yan Zhonglin.

During the interview, Han Wenjie joked to the reporter, “Three heads are better than one, let alone four of us!”

Once they set their minds to it, the team immediately jumped into the development process. With no prior data to refer to, they studied existing eye wash models, tried to understand the working principles, drew detailed blueprints, and created their own tools.

Zhang Shengchang started the production of pipe components, Yu Xianzhi processed the fittings, Yan Zhonglin assembled the parts, and Han Wenjie handled the welding. Working together, they completed the first self-made eye wash station in just one week.

The device was durable, tested thoroughly, and performed well in real use. Compared to buying expensive eye wash systems that cost thousands or even tens of thousands of yuan, the self-made version only cost 200 yuan, saving the company a significant amount of money.

According to the reporter’s interview, the team had set a target of producing 50 eye wash stations on their own. So far, 18 have been completed.

“Now we can make eye wash stations ourselves. From now on, we won’t need to ask for help anymore,” Han Wenjie proudly told the reporter.
