Stair installation requirements

1. One of the most critical factors when checking the quality of a staircase is its structural strength. A simple way to test this is by gently shaking the handrails to see if they wobble or feel unstable. You should also inspect the joints between the treads and the small support blocks. If there are visible gaps, it could indicate poor construction. Many inexperienced installers use regular glue to secure these parts, but standard adhesives often lack the durability, resistance to oxidation, and moisture protection needed for long-term stability. This can lead to loosening over time, which is hard to detect once the installation is complete.

2. The joinery at the handrail corners is another area that requires precision. Poor craftsmanship here can result in noticeable gaps, even after painting or filling with putty. These gaps may seem minor now, but they can cause future problems like cracking or loosening, especially in curved handrails. The connection points of curved railings need extra attention during installation to ensure a tight, seamless fit that remains durable over time.

3. Another important consideration is the material size and quality. Many so-called "stigma" (which I believe refers to wooden components) sold in the market may not meet the required dimensions, and some might be made from low-grade wood that lacks sufficient hardness. While you can measure the size with tools, assessing the hardness is more challenging. A simple test is to try scratching the surface with a nail file—if it leaves an indentation, it may not be strong enough. Experienced professionals can often tell the difference between good and bad wood just by touch or visual inspection, which helps in making better choices during installation.

When purchasing or installing a staircase, it's always wise to pay close attention to these details. A well-constructed staircase not only looks better but also lasts longer and provides greater safety. Don’t rush the process—take the time to inspect every part carefully before finalizing the project.
