Foreign brands from Guangzhou Furniture Fair increase participation

The 31st China (Guangzhou) International Furniture Fair officially opened in Guangzhou on the 18th, with this year's event being held in two phases, from the 18th to the 21st and then from the 27th to the 30th. The first phase focuses on the "big home" theme, showcasing civilian furniture, outdoor furniture, home accessories, and home textiles, while the second phase centers around office environment exhibitions. The total exhibition area reached 880,000 square meters, featuring over 4,500 exhibitors. In this exhibition, more than 1,000 Chinese and foreign exhibitors from over 20 countries and regions—including the United States, Germany, Italy, and France—alongside companies from Guangdong, Zhejiang, and other provinces in China, made a collective appearance. Zhu Changling, chairman of the China Furniture Association, stated that the Chinese furniture industry is experiencing rapid development. In 2012, enterprises above the designated size achieved a total industrial output value of 559.982 billion yuan, an increase of 17.02% year-on-year. In the same year, Chinese furniture exports reached $49.96 billion, up by 28.52% year-on-year. He emphasized that the fast growth of the Chinese furniture industry and the development of furniture exhibitions are closely linked. The reporter noted that well-known overseas furniture brands from the U.S. and Germany have intensified their competition for the Chinese market this year. Mercedes-Benz also entered the Chinese furniture market for the first time, bringing its furniture products that feature simple designs and use materials similar to those found in their cars, making them stand out in the context of the brand's automotive identity.
