Analyze the activity of activated alumina ball catalyst
Activated alumina spheres are porous solid materials known for their high surface area, large pore volume, adjustable pore structure, and excellent mechanical strength after shaping. They also exhibit good thermal stability, are easily available, and cost-effective. These properties make them widely used in catalytic applications as a reliable support material for catalysts.
In a recent study, the catalytic activity of activated alumina balls was tested in a custom-built fixed-bed high-pressure continuous reactor. The catalyst (0.115 ml) was first reduced under a hydrogen gas stream (100 ml/min) at 400°C and 0.15 MPa for 4 hours. Following this, the catalyst was used for ethylbenzene hydrogenation under the following conditions: a space velocity of 1133 hâ»Â¹, a hydrogen flow rate of 100 ml/min, and a reaction pressure of 1.10 MPa.
The products from the catalytic reaction were analyzed using a GC2950 gas chromatograph equipped with an SGE2AC20 column and a hydrogen flame ionization detector. This setup allowed for precise quantification of the reaction products, ensuring accurate evaluation of the catalyst's performance.
