2013 Guangzhou mattress opening soon, one hundred companies lead the health and environmental protection mattress

Sleep is a fundamental part of our daily lives, with people spending about half their day resting. According to a survey by the World Health Organization involving 25,916 patients across 14 countries and 15 regions, 27% of individuals experience sleep difficulties. In the United States, insomnia rates range from 32% to 50%, while in the UK it's between 10% and 14%. Japan reports 20%, and France has 30%. A recent survey by the China Sleep Research Association revealed that 38.2% of Chinese adults suffer from insomnia, with the elderly facing an even higher rate of 60%. Given China’s massive population, it now has the largest number of insomniacs globally. In the first seven months of this year, the mattress industry saw a remarkable 64.2% increase in the launch of safety and health-focused products. Experts suggest that this surge is largely due to heightened consumer awareness of sleep health, driven by recent quality inspection campaigns. As a result, companies are prioritizing quality, leading to positive growth in the industry. The sleep sector is not only thriving but also becoming a key driver in China’s health consumption market. Despite a challenging period for the furniture and home furnishings industry in 2012, the sleep industry continued to grow. By September 2012, the market size reached 120 billion yuan, showing consistent high-speed development. In 2011, the mattress industry generated over $20 billion in output, accounting for 6.5% of global furniture production. China became the second-largest mattress market worldwide, with an annual growth rate of 24%. Although the 2012 downturn affected exports, signs of recovery emerged in 2013. Early this year, China’s total textile exports reached $123.26 billion, up 12% compared to the same period last year. This indicates a strong performance in furniture and household goods trade, with experts predicting 2013 as a recovery year for the mattress industry. Recently, the reporter spoke with Mr. Lu, chairman of the 2013 Guangzhou International Mattress Exhibition. He noted that adjusting business strategies according to market trends is now the norm. Most companies are no longer focusing solely on domestic or international markets but are combining both. To support this shift, the 2013 exhibition aims to serve as a one-stop platform for domestic and foreign trade, using multiple channels to promote the event and attract professional buyers from around the world. Over 15 foreign media outlets have already been engaged, and efforts are underway to promote the exhibition internationally. Pakistani agents are being recruited, Indian exhibitions are assisting with on-site promotions, and the Italian Sleep Association has pledged support and will bring members to attend. The exhibition will also feature a new forum focused on the development of the healthy sleep industry, promoting concepts like "health, safety, and environmental protection." Educational activities such as lectures on sleep knowledge, product demonstrations, and bed cushion maintenance tips will be included to enhance public engagement and raise awareness of the mattress industry. Additionally, a brand evaluation segment will be introduced, where awards will be given based on contributions to the industry. Unlike traditional awards, this recognition will be judged from three perspectives: professional, media, and public, ensuring fairness and transparency. The award ceremony will take place at the peak of the exhibition, aiming to create significant buzz and highlight winning companies. 2014 marks a new beginning for the mattress industry, and the Guangzhou Mattress Exhibition is set to play a crucial role in its recovery.
