Do a good job in occupational health inspection workers
Every year, from April 24 to May 1, the country observes "Occupational Disease Prevention Law Promotion Week." This year’s theme focuses on "Preventing Occupational Diseases and Ensuring Healthy Workplaces." In line with the updated "Hunan Province Work Injury Insurance Management Regulations" that took effect this April, experts recommend that employers involved in occupational hazard activities should conduct health checks for employees before, during, and after their employment. It is essential to establish occupational health surveillance records and remind migrant workers to undergo necessary health examinations as required by regulations prior to starting work.
According to experts from the Changsha Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, recent monitoring data shows a steady increase in occupational health inspections across the city. However, a significant number of workers still fail to complete occupational health checks at the appropriate times—before, during, or after their employment. This lack of compliance poses serious risks to worker health and safety.
In addition, the newly revised "Classification and Catalogue of Occupational Diseases" from last year has expanded the list from 115 to 132 types, including four open-ended categories. The names of 16 diseases have also been updated. Despite these changes, the overall classification remains in 10 categories. Notably, the classification of three categories has been adjusted: respiratory diseases previously categorized under "pneumoconiosis" and "other occupational diseases" are now grouped into "Occupational Pneumoconiosis and Other Respiratory Diseases." The category "occupational poisoning" has been renamed "Professional Chemical Poisoning," and "occupational diseases caused by biological factors" is now referred to as "Professional Infectious Diseases."
