China Science and Technology University Implements Semiconductor Ultrafast Quantum Control Non-Logical Unit

Recently, Professor Guo Guoping, Xiao Ming, and collaborators of the Quantum Information Laboratory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Science and Technology of China successfully implemented the non-logic gates of the two charge qubits of the semiconductor quantum dot system. The core component of a modern computer is a fully electronically controlled semiconductor chip CPU. The development of compatible semiconductor full electronic control quantum chips is one of the important directions for the development of quantum computers. Guo Guoping’s research team is dedicated to the development of semiconductor quantum chips. After two years of exploration and accumulation, a variety of semiconductor-coupled electronically controlled quantum dot structures have been designed and fabricated using standard semiconductor micro-nano processing technology, which has enabled the coupling strength between the two qubits to exceed 100 micro-electron volts; while continuously improving the precise control of high-frequency pulse signals in quantum bit logic manipulations, the accuracy between pulse sequences is controlled at the picosecond level, and finally the control of two charge qubits is implemented. , Its control is completed within 200 picoseconds. Compared to the highest level of the current electronic spin two qubits in the world, the speed of operation of the new semiconductor two qubits has increased hundreds of times.

In principle, a single-bit logic unit and a two-bit control non-logical unit can implement any quantum computation process, the charge-coded single-bit and two-bit quantum logic gates are completed, indicating that the charge qubits are shorter than the spin qubits although the coherence time is shorter. About two orders of magnitude, it has a logic gate operation speed of two or more orders of magnitude faster, and it has the important advantages of easy all-electric operation, integration, and compatibility with traditional semiconductor process technology. It is a solid step toward the further development of practical semiconductor quantum computing. basis.
